Lego Building Camp

June 25—June 29

Ages 6-9

Explore the world through building with LEGO! Learn about design, engineering, art and self-expression. Enjoy a wide variety of building activities, both individually and cooperatively. Come excited to build and learn.

FLL Robot Building

July 2—July13

Ages 6-12

Take LEGO building to the next level. Test your robot skills on FLL competition boards. Campers will each have their own robots, providing the opportunity to design, build, program, test and troubleshoot.

VEX IQ

July 16—July 27

Ages 6-12

Build, program and drive robots to complete specific tasks. Campers will each have their own robots to provide them with the opportunity to learn all aspects of basic robotics: designing, building, programming, testing, and troubleshooting. Price includes VEX IQ Starter Kit.

Robo Lab

July 30—Aug 10

(Ages 9-16)

Ramp up your robotics skills! Develop higher level autonomous programming skills. Build more robust lifting mechanisms and more sophisticated intakes. This camp is designed for campers who already have some expertise in either VEX IQ or FLL robotics.

Robotics Team Building

August 13-August 24

Ages 9-16

Work with other roboteers to design, program and drive a robot for competition. Build more complex robots to accomplish more challenging tasks. Test skills in mock competition. This camp is designed for campers who want to take robotics to the competitive level.

Space Elevator Camp

August 20—August 31

Ages 9-16

Test your robotics skills in the annual Space Elevator Contest at the International Space Elevator Consortium. Build an effective climbing robot that can carry "satellites" 20 feet into the air to launch them into "orbit." Build, test and revise. Be ready to run your robots in a real competition against teams from all over the Puget Sound.

Competition Team JumpStart

June 25—August 31

Ages 9-16

Whether you have your own team, want to join one of ours, (or just want more robotics) begin prepping for the 2018-19 seasons of VEX and VEX IQ competition. Develop strategies and expand learned skills working with VEX and VEX IQ State and World award winners. Campers can work as individuals or in teams.

Make a mess while learning about chemistry. Create endothermic and exothermic reactions. Stretch and pull the elastic bonds of polymers. Campers explore the world of chemistry with hands-on activities designed to engage the curiosity.

Aircraft

July 23—August 3

Ages 6-12

Build planes. Launch rockets. Use satellites to triangulate geoposition. Learn about the laws of dynamics. Campers apply Newtonian laws to design, build and test flying machines.

Gadgets & Gizmos

August 6—August 17

Ages 6-12

Build simple machines from everyday items. Convert a room into a complex Rube-Goldberg machine. Campers learn about basic scientific and engineering principles through application.

Academic Camps

SAT/ACT Camp

Begin preparing for college testing. Review core knowledge. Learn strategies for improving scores. Take practice exams period. The camp is customized to student needs. Summer 2018 camps: July 2-July 13 and Aug. 6-Aug. 17.

College Application Readiness

Get an early start on collge applications. Craft a personal essay that stands out. Build an application package that highlights potential and increases the likelihood of being accepted into choice schools. Summer 2018: July 23-Aug. 10 and Aug. 13-31.

ESL/TOEFL

Improve speaking, reading and writing abilities. Strengthen grammar and punctuation. Build comfort levels writing in a second language and prep for standardized language test. Each camper’s program is tailored to learning needs. Summer 2018: July 16-July 27 and Aug. 24-Aug. 31.

Writing Camp

Campers will be asked to write, write and then write some more. They will be working in small groups with a writing counselor. Together, they will help each other identify workable ideas, develop content and edit for grammar and style. This camp builds students' abilities to find and express their ideas. Then, apply the editing process to produce effective, grammatical prose more effectively. For the Summer 2018 season, Writing Camps will be held June 25-July 13 and Aug. 13-Aug. 31.
